Thanks for the tuition guys... Silicon or 'No More Nails' which would be better do you think ? A mate at the bike shop stuck a bloody big vice attached to a steel pedestal down to the concrete floor with 'No More Nails' and the next day, no way would that thing budge... Beaudy...
Bloody brilliant !!! I have had a new cistern & bowl combo the same as yours, sitting on the back veranda for yonks, waiting to find out if I can swap from an 's' trap to a 'p' trap... Did not know that you can get that certain fitting you used... Can that fitting be bought from Bunnings or do I need to go to a specialty plumbing mob ? Okay... guess what I am doing tomorrow... lol...
DO THE TEMP CHECK
OMG! I THINK IT'S UNEFFOECTIVE TO PUT REFLECTIVE FILM ON THE INSIDE. THE SUN IS NOT SHINNING FROM THE INSIDE. I WANT TO BLOCK THE HEAT BEFORE IT GET TO THE WINDOW. IJS
Dang, I’ll have to pay someone. There’s no way this is a DIY for me.
There's another tip I can give: If you don't have a large flat surface anywhere to unroll the blind in order to cut it to size, get a length of broom handle and wrap the end around it. So you have the main tube at the top and the broom handle "tube" at the bottom. By unrolling at the top and rolling at the bottom you will eventually have all the fabric wound round the temporary tube, thus exposing the metal tube at the top. My dining table is only 75cm x 75cm and it was plenty large enough to work on. Now you can apply your width measurement to the metal tube and saw off the end of the tube. To mark the fabric for cutting, roll the blind in stages off the temporary tube and onto the metal tube until most of the fabric is on the metal tube. You can now measure and cut the fabric to the required width. After you have cut about 30cm off, carry on rolling and unrolling to expose more of the fabric, then mark and cut off the next strip. If you take care, the cut edge is almost as clean as if you had laid the fabric down on a floor and cut it all in one go. I've just done this today and the new blind is up! It rolls up and down fine. However, next time I need a roller blind I'm going to try one of the no-drill blinds. These are more expensive, but you don't need to drill any holes for mounting brackets. The blind clamps in place between the window recess and there is an adjustment wheel to ensure a tight fit.
Thank you
Excellent video. Pity I cant get the spindle to budge at all 🤣
Hey Bec, do you need to borrow a bigger hammer 🤣 If a penetrating lubricant doesn’t work you may be up for a new tap. Best of luck, Kent
Cheers I'll now have a crack at installing the new tap.
Hey JagMan, let us know how you get on. Best of luck. Kent
Now I've found the better quality audio version I finished watching this to the end. First handy tip was to measure the width with the bracket end pieces in place. This greatly assisted cutting the tube accurately. The second tip was the toothed wheel to retract the stub, then let lt spring back into the bracket. I've never seen this type of fitting on any roller blind in England. A tip of my own is how to rectify a tube that one has cut a little bit too short. Find a piece of aluminium tube that fits snugly inside the roller blind tube and join the two sections of roller blind tube together. You could even plan to cut the tube slightly shorter deliberately and adjust the length to the precise measurement with the bracket end pieces in place. Only cut the fabric once the exact tube width has been established. My tube is 25mm in diameter and it is fairly easy to find suitable aluminium tube in DIY shops that will slide inside. If the joint tube (the alu one) is not tight enough in the main tube, superglue could probably help. Or a turn or two of masking tape. Note, too, that the joint tube doesn't have to be aluminium. It could also be plastic or copper pipe. Or even a wooden dowel, e.g. cut off a thin broom handle. Once the fabric has been wound on, it ain't gonna shift!
That’s a great suggestion. Well done mate and thanks for sharing it with others👍 Cheers, Kent
Will this film help cut out bright car headlights?
Hey Truly, yeah to some degree - just the same as it would filter light from the sun. I guess it depends on the VLT % you choose. The lower the VLT (Visual Light Transmission) percentage = the darker the tint. Best of luck, Kent
super good, easy to understand vid.
Thanks Rehannasir, I’m glad it helped mate🤙 Kent
The socket wrench is what I needed. Thanks !
Good on you George 👌 cheers, Kent
What if you followed all the rules and cleaned the windows better than how to came from the factory. However the film is still bubbling at the edges, in some areas.
Hey Stownley, if the film is bubbly at the edges wouldn’t it have to be dust or grit, contaminants from hands (oils), maybe too much material and it’s bunching up and needing to be trimmed back a little? If it’s water bubbles they will disappear in time. All the best, Kent
Thank you for the clear and concise instructions! Made the adjustments and now my cupboard door is closing. 😊
Glad it helped Melody, add that to your DIY knowledge bank👌. Cheers, Kent
What if i dont have baby shampoo
You could use a neutral coloured/perfumed shampoo, just don’t use anything to ‘detergenty’. Best of luck. Kent

Does anyone know if this home made solution is okay to use on marble tile? My installer used gray grout but the marble that has white sections has a haze.
Hey mate, if in doubt you could try a dry nylon scouring pad, of course start gently and check the surface even though they claim nylon is ‘non-scratch’, I’ve done this method successfully on porcelain tiles. Best of luck. Kent
helpful thank you
I’m glad it helped Jony🤙 cheers, Kent
I have a 2008 Jeep with a soft-top. Over time the nylon mesh straps have torn off. They are attached to the aluminum spreaders with pop rivets. Drill out the old rivet; measure, cut and double back the new mesh, new pop rivet and bob's your uncle.
Well done Jfarrell 👌 you’re all over it! Kent
Can you come over and install a peep hole?! He made it look easy but I’m not quite getting it.
Oh Savvy, have a crack at it, I have faith in you👌 best of luck, Kent
great video
Cheers Engineer, thanks for the comment mate🤙 Kent
Do you spray the windows with the shampoo and water to stick it down? Sorry if it sounds dumb just keeping myself right and wondering if it leaves streaky marks. Great video. Thanks in advance.
Hey Patricia, the shampoo/water mix is mainly there to help with repositioning and then removing bubbles with a squeegee. I’ve never attempted window tinting without it - but have found if I don’t spray enough then the film sticks straight away and is not forgiving at all. Best of luck, Kent
Very helpful video thank you
Hey Sanjeet, are you going to give this a go? Best of luck mate. Kent
Very good ideas. Thanks for sharing.
You’re most welcome Rek, cheers for the comment 🤙 Kent

Hey, that’s awesome 👌 I’m glad it helped. Thanks for letting me know, Kent
Mate, I can't thankyou enough for such a brilliant tutorial on fixing the kitchen cabinetry. One of my kitchen cabinet door top hinge came off and no amount of Bunnings explanation text helped me, but this video helped me fix my door straight away. Cheers, -Ram
Cheers for the lovely comment Ram, I’m glad it helped you out mate👌 all the best, Kent
hey there. if i were to use sandpaper alone prior to water paint for indoor pvc trunking, you reckon the paint would stick?
Hey Lester, from experience I really think you need to use an acetone to ensure a bond. It would be a shame for your paint job to scratch up easily 🤔 best of luck. Kent
I have a Kohler kitchen faucet and I need to replace the cartridge inside it. It has no screws and I will have to use channel lock plyers and a towel. I can scratch up the old one since Kohler sent me a new handle and cartridge as part of a warranty claim. I believe there are special tools for this job that have a rubberized surface to remove the part.
Hey Ed, did you end up buying the tool with rubber jaws or going with the channel locks and towel combo? Cheers, Kent
@@InspireDIYI will probably try channel lock plyers and a towell. I have the new parts but have not tried to swap them yet.
really great video. definitely will subscribe. Can I ask, is it possible to grout in the drain or do you have to use silicone? Our shower is leaking and was a prior diy job. They have grouted in an infinity drain. To clarify, there is about a 2cm space along both the front and back of the infinity drain that is just grout (i.e they didn't tile up to the edge of the drain and just used grout). The grout now has small cracks in it that i assume are the source of the leak.
Hey mate, yes you absolutely can grout that area (I kinda prefer it) I actually did one like this and applied penetrating sealer yesterday 👍 The small cracks are not a ‘poorly done job’ as much as it’s just due for a regrout👌 Best of luck. Kent
WD40 is actually not a lubricant as most people think. It's actually a lubricant remover/degreaser so it has the opposite effect to lubricant in the medium-long term.
Cheers KingK, I’m sure some of us have found that out the hard way🤣 Kent
What a tremendously helpful video - concise and detailed at the same time. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the lovely comment Winip😉 very kind. Kent
You did a great job. I'm really DREADING getting started. I have to use 2 pieces of tint for an extra wide window. AHHH!
Hey Umaxen, how did you get on with 2 pieces side by side? Am curious as to how it went. Cheers, Kent
This was very helpful today. I was attaching blinds to an aluminum gazebo. I decided to rivet the attachments the wrong way round initially so that I could practice how to drill out rivets (OK, maybe I didn’t decide that in advance). Excellent instructions, thank you from Canada!
That’s funny Doolyfan, I thought I was the only one who did things backwards 🤔 good on you mate. Kent
Thumbs up mate!!! thank you its really helpful.
Cheers Randomguy, glad it helped mate👍 Kent
will a hair dryer help tame the curl in the tint from being rolled up?
Hey Michael, I’m not sure about that as I haven’t had to do it. You are probably right though as a little heat can relax polyester (PET) products. Best of luck mate. Kent
